Your Journey, Our Mission
Our counseling center is a welcoming, professional space designed to support individuals, couples, and families on their journey toward healing and personal growth. We are founded on the principle that each person is a child of God and is deserving of compassionate care.
Our center operates as a partnership with counselors, allowing them to focus solely on their clients while we handle all administrative tasks. Counselors rent office space and pay a service fee, which grants them access to a fully equipped office, administrative support, marketing assistance, appointment scheduling, billing, and other essential services.

Common Types of Private Counselors and Therapists
Explore the different kinds of licensed professionals who provide compassionate care and mental health support.
When seeking help, it’s important to find a therapist whose training and approach align with your needs. At Stonebridge Independent Counseling Center, we work with a range of licensed professionals, each offering unique expertise. Here’s a quick overview of the most common types of mental health providers:
Hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.). Specialize in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders using talk therapy and psychological testing. Note: They do not prescribe medication.
Hold a master’s degree and provide therapy for various emotional and behavioral challenges such as anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns.
Have a master’s degree in social work and offer therapy, often with a focus on social and environmental factors affecting mental health.
Specialize in relationship counseling, working with couples, families, and individuals to address interpersonal issues.
Medical doctors (M.D. or D.O.) who can diagnose and treat mental health disorders, prescribe medication, and provide some forms of therapy.
Help individuals struggling with addiction through therapy, coping strategies, and recovery support.
Choosing the Right Counselor
Finding the Right Fit for Your Journey

Choosing the right counselor can make a significant difference in how effective therapy is for you. The process starts with identifying the issue you're facing—whether it's anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, substance use, or something else. Different counselors specialize in different areas, so it's important to look for one with training and experience relevant to your needs.
Next, consider the type of therapy that might work best for you. For example, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is often effective for anxiety and depression, while EMDR may be more appropriate for trauma. Some people prefer a practical, goal-oriented approach, while others benefit from more exploratory or emotion-focused styles.
Credentials also matter. Look for licensed professionals such as psychologists (PhD or PsyD), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), or licensed professional counselors (LPC). If you need medication in addition to therapy, you may also need to consult a psychiatrist.
Don’t overlook the importance of personal comfort. A good counselor-client relationship is based on trust and rapport, so it’s okay to meet with a few different therapists before deciding who feels like the right fit. Consider practical factors too—like location, availability, insurance acceptance, and session fees.
Ultimately, the “right” counselor is someone whose expertise matches your needs and with whom you feel safe, understood, and supported.

Healing begins with one step. You don’t have to walk this journey alone—we’re here to support you.
